Evoke 2026 Aftermovie

Evoke 2026 was a great demoparty as usual, with this year’s theme being Peace & Love! I upgraded my gimbal setup again also with new gimbal parameters which I never setup before, particularly the deadpan settings, now the panning action is supersmooth! And I also got to try the handgrip I added to more control to "steer” the gimbal. I didn’t record all DJs though because I was just too tired mentally and physically. Having a team would be more ideal to cover everything, so I filmed as much as I could and included the most important parts of the party!

As for the technical details of this aftermovie, it was shot in ProRes 422, C4K50p (I finally switched to the EU standard framerate, instead of the awkward and silly standard of 59.94fps) and I recorded 904GB of footage this time. But I decided to output it at 1080p50, due to the fact that it takes almost 3 times as long to render and at Evoke 1080p is the standard anyway. I also only used a set of 3 fast prime lenses: Meike MiniPrimes 10mm, 16mm. 35mm and they were all T2.2! And the best of all, those lenses are almost identical in characteristics, weight and size, making it very easy for me to swap without having to re-balance the gimbal. Which saved a lot of time for me!

Since it’s the 70s hippy theme I decided to colorgrade with oldschool looking Kodak slidefilm-like colors with halation effects. My colorgrading workflow goes from color correction first to convert from Panasonic V-Log/V-Gammut to ACES/ACEScct in a rec709A colorspace for web use.

Soundtrack: Terminal Velocity by Twilight/Lego^Wildfire. I used this soundtrack because it was the winning soundtrack for the MP3/OGG Compo! And because I already used Haujobb’s Make a demo soundtrack on Outline’s previous aftermovie.

Greetings to all Sceners, Peace & Love to all of you <3
